How to delete your browser history

As you browse the web, information about the websites you visit is stored on your computer to improve your browsing experience. When you visit websites, your browser records browsing history, cache and cookies. If you share your computer with someone else, it is a good idea to periodically delete your browser's history by clearing cookies, cache, and browsing history. Most browsers provide clear history options.

This article will show you how to delete cache, cookies and browsing history.

Delete browser history in Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera automatically

Internet Explorer users

Internet Explorer 9.0 / Internet Explorer 8.0
From the Tools menu select Delete browsing history.
Check the Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History check boxes, and then click Delete.

Internet Explorer 7.0
Open the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Then open the General tab and in the Browsing history area click Delete.
Click the Delete files button to clear browser cache.
Click Delete cookies to clear browser cookies.
Click Delete history to clear browser history.

Internet Explorer 6.x
Go to Tools and select Internet Options. Then open the General tab and click Clear history. Then click OK.

Google Chrome users

To clear browser history in Google Chrome:
Open Google Chrome and press Ctrl - Alt - Del.
In the Clear Browsing Data window select items you would like to clear: Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data, Clear saved passwords and Clear saved Autofill form data.
Click Clear Browsing Data.

Firefox users

Firefox 4.0
Open Firefox and press Ctrl - Shift - Del to open the Clear recent history window.
Then oen the Details drop-down menu and select the necessary history items.
